NightLase Snoring Treatment in Tribeca, NYC
I'm Dr. Nina Izhaky. Here's what I tell every snorer who sits in my chair: there are many different reasons people snore — a narrow airway, a jaw that sits too far back, throat tissue that vibrates like a flag in the wind — but the effects are the same: decreased life expectancy and lower quality of life. NightLase is one of my favorite tools for this, because the idea is so simple. It's a gentle laser that firms the soft tissue at the back of your throat — the very tissue whose vibration causes snoring. No surgery, no downtime, no device you have to wear at night. Most patients do a short series of sessions and notice quieter nights and deeper sleep.

How NightLase actually works
No mask, no mouthpiece, no surgery. Just a laser, a short series of sessions, and tissue that behaves itself.
It firms the tissue that vibrates.
Snoring is the sound of soft tissue vibrating in your airway. NightLase is a gentle, non-surgical laser treatment that tightens the throat and soft-palate tissues to reduce that vibration and airway collapse — with zero downtime.
No surgery. No nightly device.
Nothing to wear to bed, nothing to plug in, nothing to travel with. The treatment happens right here in the office in short, comfortable sessions — and you walk straight back out into your day.
Results in weeks, not months.
NightLase laser therapy yields results in just a few weeks. A short series of sessions, then quieter nights and deeper sleep — most patients describe the sessions themselves as comfortable.
One part of a real airway plan.
Depending on what your evaluation finds, your plan may combine expansion, orthodontics, NightLase, an oral appliance, or frenectomy — and a sleep study when one is indicated. NightLase is powerful on its own and stronger inside a plan built around your airway.
Your NightLase journey, step by step
From “why do I snore?” to quiet nights — here is how it goes.
An evaluation with real answers.
We look at your airway, your bite and jaw position, your TMJ, hard tissue, and soft tissue — plus what your days feel like. You leave knowing what is causing your snoring and whether NightLase is the right tool for it.
A sleep study, only if we need one.
A sleep study — at home or in a lab — measures what actually happens with your breathing and oxygen levels overnight. Our Tribeca studio offers both home and in-lab testing options, so we know whether a laser, an appliance, or another approach fits.
Short, comfortable sessions.
NightLase is non-invasive — no cutting, no anesthesia, no recovery time. Most patients describe the sessions as comfortable: a short series, spaced out, done.
A plan that holds.
We review how you are sleeping and what your partner is hearing. If your case truly needs a sleep physician and CPAP, we will tell you that honestly — most snorers, though, can be helped right here.
Snoring treatment without a machine
Many of my patients snore but do not have sleep apnea — or they have it and will not touch a CPAP. A machine on your nightstand every night, for life, is not everyone’s answer. NightLase treats the throat tissue itself: no mask, no nightly device, no surgery. For snorers whose cause is soft-tissue vibration, a short series of laser sessions can bring back quiet nights and deeper sleep. And if your case truly needs a sleep physician and a machine, I will tell you that honestly — your first visit is about answers, not a sales pitch.

What a NightLase Visit Actually Feels Like
Let me tell you who sits in my chair for this. You snore — your partner has told you, maybe more than once — and you are tired of being tired. Many of my patients snore but do not have sleep apnea. Others have it and will not touch a CPAP, and I understand that: a machine on your nightstand every night, for life, is not everyone’s answer. If your snoring comes from soft tissue vibrating at the back of your throat — the most common cause I see — NightLase was made for exactly that.
And the visit itself? It is the easiest appointment in my office. You settle into the chair, we place laser-safety glasses over your eyes, and the gentle laser warms and firms the tissue at the back of your throat. There is no cutting, no anesthesia, no recovery time — patients describe the sessions as comfortable, and you walk straight out into your day. A short series of sessions, spaced out, and most people notice quieter nights and deeper sleep within a few weeks.
One honest note: snoring gets worse as we age, because the tissue slackens and becomes droopy — that is simply what time does. The laser firms it back up. But NightLase has to be the right tool for your cause, and that is what your evaluation decides. We look at your airway, your bite and jaw position, your TMJ, your hard and soft tissue. And if your case truly needs a sleep physician and a CPAP, I will tell you that to your face. Your first visit is about answers, never a sales pitch.
We can all benefit from it because as we age, the tissue slackens and becomes droopy. So even if you don't need it when you're young and have no symptoms, as you get older you'll need it to tighten up those back-of-the-throat muscles. And who needs it least? Opera singers — singers in general. They exercise those tissues and keep them tight even with age.

NightLase questions, answered
01What is NightLase, exactly?
NightLase is a gentle, non-surgical laser treatment that tightens the throat and soft-palate tissues to reduce airway collapse — the vibration and collapse that cause snoring. Zero downtime.
02Does NightLase hurt?
It is non-invasive — no cutting, no anesthesia, no recovery time. Most patients describe the sessions as comfortable.
03How many sessions will I need?
Most patients do a short series of sessions and notice quieter nights and deeper sleep within a few weeks. Your exact plan comes from your evaluation — never a guess.
04Do I still need a CPAP?
Not necessarily. CPAP keeps the airway open with air pressure — it treats the symptom. We look for the cause. If your case truly needs a sleep physician and CPAP, we will tell you that honestly.
05What if my snoring has more than one cause?
That is common. Depending on findings, your plan may combine expansion, orthodontics, NightLase, an oral appliance, or frenectomy — and a sleep study when one is indicated. That is the point of the evaluation: the right combination for your airway.
06How much does NightLase cost?
It depends on your diagnosis — NightLase alone or combined with other airway care. You will get exact numbers before anything begins, and we will walk you through financing. We do not bill insurance directly — call (212) 561-5303.
07Do I need a sleep study before NightLase?
Only if we need one. At your evaluation we examine your airway, bite, jaw position, TMJ, and hard and soft tissue — if that gives us the full picture, we move straight to a plan. When it does not, a home or in-lab sleep study measures what actually happens with your breathing and oxygen overnight, so we choose the right tool.
08How will we know it is working?
We will ask two people: you and your partner. We review how you are sleeping and what your partner is hearing — your partner is usually the first to notice the nights getting quieter. Then we decide together whether your plan is holding or needs adjusting.
09Is the laser safe for my throat?
It is a gentle, non-surgical laser — no cutting, no anesthesia, no recovery time. Most patients describe the sessions as comfortable. You wear laser-safety glasses during the visit, and you walk straight back out into your day.
