Dental Implant Services In Tribeca, NYC

Dental implants could be a great way to restore your self-confidence and your smile. Getting dental implants in Lower Manhattan is easier than you think. Here is some important information that you should know.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small, metal structures that serve as an alternative for missing teeth. They are screw-shaped, titanium implants that are surgically inserted into the jawbone where they act as anchors to support natural-looking artificial crowns. A dental implants procedure usually involves an endosteal implant, which is placed directly into the healthy jawbone.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Implants?

The dental implants procedure is a great option for people with missing teeth who have enough healthy jawbone to support the implants. If you’re interested in dental implants, schedule a consultation by one of our experienced dentists to determine your eligibility as a dental implant candidate. We will explore your financial options such as dental implants insurance and alternatives to reduce  your dental implants cost.

Dental Implant  5 Step Procedure

  1. First the surgical site and jawbone are prepared.
  2. Then the metal implant is surgically inserted into your jawbone. It is covered with gum tissue and left to heal and integrate with the bone. Healing and bonding take a few months.
  3. After the site has healed, the site is reopened and a small connecting post called an abutment is attached to the implant.
  4. In the last step, a crown that matches your natural teeth color is placed onto the abutment.
  5. When everything is placed, your dental implants are ready to function as your natural teeth.

Care for Dental Implants

When you do get your dental implants done, it is extremely important that you take good care of them after your surgery. And it’s very easy to!

Here are some tips for you:

  • You may get some mild pain and soreness after the surgery, this nothing to worry about you can use over the counter pain relievers.
  • Once the dental implants are nice and healed you should brush, floss  and rinse with antibacterial mouthwash as you would for your natural teeth.
  • You should plan regular dental cleanings at Tribeca Dental Studio every 6 months.

Benefits of Dental Implants

When dental implants replace your missing natural teeth, the following dental implants benefits are yours for life.

  • A stunning, natural-looking smile
  • Gain back your confidence
  • Easier chewing
  • Protection of teeth adjacent to dental implants

How Long Will My Dental Implants Last?

Your dental implants, like your natural teeth, need proper care. How long dental implants last depends on how well you take care of them. If you have good dental hygiene and see your dentist regularly, your dental implants can last a few decades and even for  the rest of your life.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?

The potential cost of dental implants relies on few factors:

  1. Materials used to make the post and crown
  2. The need for bone grafts or other preparations
  3. The type of implant used.

Dental implants’ cost is also affected by dental implants insurance coverage and personal financing options.

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month!

This month-long national health observance brings together thousands of dedicated professionals, healthcare providers, and educators to promote the benefits of good oral health to children, their caregivers, teachers, and many others.

New young parents often ask us “When should my child first see a dentist?” It’s never too early to start focusing on your child’s oral health! The American Association of Pediatric Dentists recommends that parents should see a  dentist for their child by their first tooth or first birthday. As the child starts teething, the dentist will be able to monitor their progress and implement preventative measures for any concerns with your baby’s teeth.

Did you know that cavities or tooth decay are one of the most common health problems affecting children in the United States?

At Tribeca Dental Studio, we know good habits start early. Developing good habits at an early age helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums. Our Pediatric Dentists work with children and their parents to build healthy habits.

Here are some dental tips for the little ones in your family:

  1. Offer your children water instead of sugary drinks such as soda or sweetened juices or soft drinks. Some soft drinks contain artificial sweeteners instead of added sugar. The acidity of these drinks, either sweetened with sugar or artificial sweeteners, can contribute to tooth erosion and decay. For good oral health encourage children to drink plain water throughout the day.
  2. Don’t put a baby to bed with a bottle.  By doing this your baby’s teeth can decay. When babies are put to bed with bottles, sugary liquids pool around the teeth while they sleep. Bacteria in their mouths use the sugars as food and produce acids that attack the teeth. In the most serious cases, the front teeth can rot completely and need to be removed.
  3. As the first birthday approaches, encourage your child to drink from a cup. The child gets liquid by sucking on the cup, much like a baby bottle. Also, toddlers can fall while drinking from a cup which can create a potential injury to the mouth.
  4. If your kids chew gum, buy only sugarless gum – chewing sugarless gum after eating can increase saliva flow and help wash out food and decay-producing acid.
  5.  Teach your children to floss their teeth every day. And do not forget to yourself!
  6. Help your kids develop good brushing techniques by brushing for them first, then allowing them to brush after you.
  7.  You should time their brushing to two minutes. There are great interacting apps that help keep the time and make teeth brushing fun for the kids.
  8. Make sure your child wears a mouthguard when playing any kind of sports. They help to limit the risk of mouth-related injuries to your child’s lips, tongue and soft tissues of the mouth.  Also, they help kids to avoid chipped or broken teeth, nerve damage to a tooth or even tooth loss.
  9. If kids crave a snack, offer them nutritious ones. Keep plenty of fruit, vegetables, and healthy beverages on hand so kids avoid unhealthy snacks like soda, chips, and cookies.
  10. And, of course, schedule regular dental visits. Aim to visit a dentist every 6 months for regular checkups and cleanings.

Is it time for your child to see a dentist? February is a great time to do it! Contact Tribeca Dental Studio to schedule your appointment.

Did you know that Oral Health touches every aspect of our lives?

What causes gum disease?
Poor oral hygiene that allows bacteria in plaque and calculus to remain on the teeth and infect the gums is the primary cause of gum disease.
But there are other factors that increase the risk of developing gingivitis ( Gingivitis, the earliest stage of gum disease, is inflammation of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth).

According to National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research Here are some of the most common risk factors:
● Smoking or chewing tobacco prevents the gum tissue from being able to heal.
● Crooked, rotated, or overlapping teeth create more areas for plaque and calculus to accumulate and are harder to keep clean.
● Hormonal changes in puberty, pregnancy, and menopause typically correlate with a rise in gingivitis. The increase in hormones causes the blood vessels in the gums to be more susceptible to bacterial and chemical attack.
● Cancer and cancer treatment can make a person more susceptible to infection and increase the risk of gum disease.
● Alcohol negatively affects the oral defense.
● Stress weakens the body’s immune response to bacterial invasion.
● Poor nutrition, such as a diet high in sugar and carbohydrates and low in water intake, will increase the formation of plaque.
● Poor salivation generation

What are the signs of Gum disease?
Healthy gums are firm, light pink, and fit tightly around your teeth. Although early-stage gingivitis isn’t always obvious, there are a few subtle signs that it’s developing. You have some degree of gingivitis if your gums:

● Appear swollen, puffy, or delicate

● Look dim red

Bleed during or after you brush

Gum disease doesn’t always affect your entire mouth. It can start in just one area or around certain teeth like your molars. Both dental plaque and tartar are filled with harmful bacteria, and if they aren’t removed from teeth, they will begin to irritate the gums and cause gingivitis. If left untreated, gum disease will frequently stretch out from the gums deep down and lead to periodontitis. (Is the point at which the bone underneath the gums gets excited or contaminated.

Is there Treatment for Gum Disease?
Yes of course. The number and sorts of treatment will shift, contingent upon the degree of the gum ailment. Whenever left untreated gum disease can transform into periodontitis — propelled gum infection. In this stage, your gums retreat away from your teeth, shaping open pockets that can without much of a stretch become tainted, which may require gum medical procedure.

How can gum surgery help me?
Moderate cases of gum disease can often be managed through traditional scaling and root planing treatments. Scaling removes plaque from below your gum line, while root planing smooths the tooth root to promote a stronger attachment between your teeth and your gum tissue. Gum surgery works to restore lost gum tissue by taking a graft of oral tissue from your palate — the roof of your mouth — and surgically stitching it in place over a root that’s been exposed by receding gums.
The best way to prevent periodontal disease or stop its progression is by maintaining good oral hygiene habits, which includes visiting Tribeca Dental Studio for routine cleanings and exams.

Helpful Tips You can keep your gums and teeth healthy by:

  • Brushing your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
  • Flossing regularly to remove plaque from between teeth. Or, you can use a device such as a special brush, wooden or plastic pick, or a “water flosser” recommended by a dental professional.
  • Visiting the dentist routinely for a check-up and professional cleaning.
  • Quitting smoking.

Any type of treatment requires that the patient keep up good daily care at home. The dentist may also suggest changing certain behaviors, such as quitting smoking, as a way to improve your treatment results. Gum disease is one of the most common oral health conditions and the leading cause of adult tooth loss in the United States. Although it typically starts out as a mild case of gingivitis, if left untreated, it can quickly progress into advanced gum disease, and the potential for gum surgery. The top-rated team at Tribeca Dental Studio in New York City (Manhattan) offers a complete menu of periodontal services and gum surgery, including surgical gum grafting for more advanced cases.
