Cosmetic Dentist in Tribeca, NYC
I'm Dr. Nina Izhaky. A cosmetic dentist designs smiles — the shape, shade, and proportion of your teeth — to fit your face, your lips, and your life. Porcelain veneers are the headliner, but they aren't the whole story: whitening, bonding, and gum contouring each have their place. What matters is the order of operations: diagnosis first, design second, treatment last. You should see your new smile before we ever touch a tooth.

What a cosmetic dentist actually does
Six tools, one goal: teeth that look like they were always yours — just better.
- Porcelain veneers: hand-layered ceramic shells, 0.2–0.5mm thin, that correct uneven edges, gaps, and discoloration in 2–3 visits. They last 10–20+ years with normal care.
- No-prep veneers (Lumineers): ultra-thin ceramic placed with virtually no enamel removal — for the right case. They last 10–15 years.
- Composite veneers and direct bonding: sculpted composite resin placed directly on the tooth — no lab, no temporaries. Best for small chips, worn edges, and minor gaps. They last 3–7 years and cost less per tooth than porcelain.
- Zoom professional whitening: in-office LED whitening that lifts stubborn coffee, wine, and tobacco stains up to 8 shades lighter in a single session — plus custom take-home trays for maintenance.
- Direct composite bonding: micro-filled resin sculpted by hand to fix minor chips, cracks, and gaps without drilling — often finished in one visit.
- Laser gum contouring: precision laser reshaping of an uneven gumline or a gummy smile to reveal the full, natural length of your teeth.
The consultation: try your smile before you commit
This is the part most offices skip. We don't. You approve the design before anything is permanent.
We analyze your facial proportions, take high-resolution studio photography, and capture an iTero 3D digital scan — no messy paste molds.
We design your smile digitally: every tooth's length, width, and angle calibrated to your lip posture and cheekbones — not a stock template.
We place a temporary composite trial smile over your teeth so you see and feel the new smile live in the mirror — and take it home for opinions.
For veneers, master ceramists hand-layer feldspathic or E-Max porcelain to mimic the internal gradients and light refraction of natural enamel.
Final placement uses high-strength dual-cure resin bonding, then we balance your bite so the new smile functions naturally — beautiful and built to last.
You get your exact price in writing at the evaluation — before anything begins. Financing and our membership plan are available if you want them.
The honest part — when I talk you out of it
A cosmetic consultation should sometimes end with 'you don't need this.' Mine do.
If your enamel is thick and beautiful and all you need is alignment, I'll tell you to straighten rather than cover — veneers on a great tooth are a downgrade, not an upgrade.
If whitening alone gets you where you want to be, we'll whiten — not every stained smile needs porcelain.
If you grind your teeth, we plan for it: a bite check and a night guard protect veneers and bonding from the forces that crack them.
Porcelain, no-prep, or composite isn't a price ladder — it's a diagnosis. Thin enamel, bite forces, and what you're fixing decide the material, not the budget.
In Dr. Nina's own words
What she's told patients, verbatim — about when veneers are the wrong answer.
I talk patients out of veneers when their enamel is thick and beautiful — all they need is orthodontic alignment to let their amazing smile shine.

Cosmetic dentist in NYC — questions answered
01What does a cosmetic dentist do differently from a regular dentist?
A cosmetic dentist focuses on the appearance of your smile — shade, shape, proportion, and how teeth frame your face — while protecting bite function and long-term tooth health. At our office that means digital smile design, a trial smile you approve first, and materials matched to your bite, not just your wish list.
02Porcelain veneers or composite — how do I choose?
Porcelain lasts 10–20+ years, resists staining, and mimics natural enamel's light play; it's the choice for a full smile transformation. Composite is placed in one visit, costs less per tooth, and suits small fixes — but lasts 3–7 years and stains more easily. Your enamel thickness, bite forces, and what you're fixing decide; the consultation sorts it out honestly.
03Will veneers look fake?
Not when they're designed for your face. We calibrate every tooth's length, width, and angle to your lips and cheekbones, hand-layer porcelain with natural internal gradients, and let you approve a trial smile first. Fake-looking veneers are a design failure, not a material problem.
04How much do veneers cost in NYC?
It depends on the material and the number of teeth — porcelain, no-prep, and composite each sit in a different range per tooth. You get your exact price in writing at the evaluation, before anything begins. Financing and our membership plan are available.
05Can whitening fix my smile instead of veneers?
Sometimes — and we'll tell you when that's the case. Zoom whitening lifts deep stains up to 8 shades in one session. But whitening can't change shape, close gaps, or fix uneven edges. If your concern is shape or proportion, whitening is the finishing touch, not the fix.
06What is a trial smile?
A temporary composite mockup placed over your teeth at the consultation so you see and feel the proposed new smile live in the mirror — shape, length, shade — before anything permanent happens. You take that experience home and decide with it, not from a brochure.
07I grind my teeth — can I still get veneers?
Often yes, with planning. Grinding puts real force on veneers and bonding, so we check your bite first and fit a custom night guard to protect the work. That's part of the consultation, not an afterthought.
