Wisdom Teeth Removal in Greenwich Village, NYC

Wisdom Teeth Removal in Greenwich Village, NYC

Wisdom teeth are your third molars — the last teeth to arrive, usually right when the roots are still forming and the surgery is simplest. When they're positioned badly, crowding other teeth, or inviting infection, they need to come out. I'm Dr. Nina Izhaky, and at our office on Warren Street our in-house oral surgeon handles the whole thing: evaluation, 3D imaging, surgery, and follow-up, all with the team you already know. That's an easy ride down the 1 or a quick walk from the West 4th hub — no referral to a stranger's office across town, no piecing it together between providers.

Why our wisdom teeth care works in Greenwich Village

Wisdom teeth need to come out when they're positioned badly, crowding other teeth, or inviting infection. Here's how we handle it — without a referral slip across town.

In-house oral surgeon.

Evaluation, surgery, and follow-up all happen here at 54 Warren Street with the team you already know — no referral to a stranger's office.

3D imaging before any decision.

We look at position, crowding, infection risk, and timing. In teens and young adults the roots aren't fully formed yet, which usually means an easier surgery and faster healing.

Honest about keeping them.

Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out. If yours are healthy, well-positioned, and easy to clean, we'll tell you to keep them — and show you why on your own images.

Your airway evaluated too.

Our airway-focused orthodontist looks at how the jaws developed and whether the airway is narrow, alongside the wisdom-teeth question. It's the kind of joined-up thinking you only get with the whole team under one roof.

What wisdom tooth removal is like

One of the most common oral surgeries — routine, quick, and well planned.

01

Evaluation and 3D imaging.

We assess position, crowding, infection risk, and timing, then show you your own images and give you a straight answer — including whether removal can wait.

02

You're fully numb.

You'll be completely numb during the procedure. If you're anxious, we'll discuss sedation options with you before anything is scheduled.

03

The surgery itself.

The surgery is typically under an hour. Wisdom tooth removal is one of the most routine oral surgeries performed — the anticipation is almost always worse than the reality.

04

Recovery, honestly.

Plan on soft foods and some swelling for two to three days — no straws, no intense workouts for a bit. Most people are back to school or work within two to four days, and teens generally heal fastest. We give you clear written instructions and we're a phone call away.

A short ride downtown from Greenwich Village

Plenty of our patients come down from the Village — from the brownstones off Bleecker Street, the NYU blocks around Washington Square Park, and the side streets near the Comedy Cellar and the Blue Note. The ride is one straight shot downtown, and our Tribeca office at 54 Warren Street sits in a neighborhood that feels familiar: historic, walkable, and mercifully calmer than Midtown.

Getting here by subway

  • 1 train from Christopher Street–Sheridan Square straight to Chambers Street — no transfer
  • A, C, E from West 4th Street to Chambers Street
  • 6 from Bleecker Street or Astor Place to Brooklyn Bridge–City Hall, then a ten-minute walk
  • PATH from 9th Street or 14th Street to the World Trade Center, then a short walk north
  • R, W from 8th Street–NYU to City Hall

Driving and parking

If you drive down from the Village, know that Tribeca garages are easier than Village street parking — there are attended garages on Warren and Greenwich Streets within a block of us. Honestly, the 1 train is faster door to door.

Straight Talk on Surgery

The College Window Is Your Best One

A good share of my wisdom-teeth patients are NYU students and young grads living around Washington Square — people exactly in the age window where this goes easiest. Eighteen to twenty-two is the sweet spot: roots not fully formed, bone still forgiving, recovery measured in days. If your parents' dentist has been mentioning your wisdom teeth for a year, this is the part of your life when acting on it costs you the least.

What I won't do is assume all four have to go. I've seen plenty of students whose wisdom teeth came in straight and clean just fine — and I tell them to keep them, with a plan to watch them at regular visits. When I do recommend removal, you see your own 3D images and I walk you through the angle, the crowding risk, and the timing. It's a recommendation with evidence attached, not a sales pitch.

One more thing college students ask about: the airway. Our airway-focused orthodontist looks at how your jaws developed and whether the airway is narrow, right alongside the wisdom-teeth question. It's the joined-up thinking you only get when the whole team is under one roof. You're fully numb for the surgery, sedation options are on the table if you're anxious, and most students are back in class within two to four days — usually with a good story.
