Early Stage Detection
Identifies cellular changes long before symptoms become severe or painful.
Oral cancer screenings are a vital part of routine check-ups at Tribeca Dental Studio. In fact, early detection can save your life—raising 5-year survival rates to 85%.

Comprehensive screening included with every routine dental checkup.
A screening takes only a few minutes and it's completely painless — most patients don't even realize how thorough it is. We start by reviewing your medical history and risk factors: tobacco use, alcohol habits, HPV history, sun exposure, and any family history of oral cancer. Knowing your profile helps us know what to watch for.
Then comes the exam itself. We visually inspect your lips, the inside of your cheeks, your gums, the roof and floor of your mouth, your tongue — including the sides and underside, where early changes often hide — and the back of your throat. We also feel along your jaw and neck for lumps, swelling, or tenderness in the lymph nodes. We're looking for anything that doesn't belong: white or red patches, sores that haven't healed, thickened areas, or asymmetry.
If everything looks healthy, that's it — you're done until your next checkup, with the peace of mind that a trained eye has looked everywhere cancer likes to start. If we spot something that needs a closer look, we'll explain exactly what we see, why it concerns us, and what the next step is. Most findings turn out to be benign — but the only way to know is to look.
Many patients assume oral cancer is rare, but it affects tens of thousands of Americans each year. Regular screenings in Lower Manhattan provide complete peace of mind and earlier, less invasive options.

If suspicious areas are found during an exam, we collect a small tissue sample (soft tissue or jawbone) for laboratory pathology analysis to confirm or rule out concerns.

Book Appointment OnlineTribeca Dental Studio has served Lower Manhattan from 54 Warren Street since 2007. Our practice brings together general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, oral surgery, and periodontics under one roof — so families don't need to travel between offices for different kinds of care.
Dr. Nina Izhaky leads our clinical team with a focus on airway health, dental implants, veneers, and pediatric dentistry. Our approach starts with diagnosis: we find out why a problem exists before recommending treatment. For snoring and sleep apnea, that means identifying the cause — whether it's nasal obstruction, jaw position, or soft tissue — rather than defaulting to a single device or procedure.
We use 3D CBCT imaging, digital planning, and laser dentistry including NightLase for snoring and LANAP for gum disease. Our Biolase laser means most cavities can be treated with no needles, no drill sounds, and no numbness — patients return to work or school right after their visit.
For patients without insurance, our dental plan is $70 per month (normally $100), covering preventive care, exams, and routine visits with no insurance company in the middle. We are located at 54 Warren St, New York, NY 10007, serving Tribeca, SoHo, Battery Park City, the Financial District, and surrounding downtown neighborhoods.
